Boromrajajonani College of Nursing Ratchaburi is originated from “Ratchaburi Practical Nursing and Midwifery School”. Founded on 18 December 1973, the school area originally held 3.5 acres. The school subsequently purchased additional area of 4 acres, altogether holds 7.6 acres. In 1974, the school offered Practical Nursing and Midwifery Certificate Courses under the supervision of Nursing College, Office of Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Health. In 1980, the school offered 2-year Beginning level Nursing and Midwifery course. In 1983, the school offered Advanced level Nursing and Midwifery course (Equivalent to bachelor degree). In 1985, the school improved the nursing certificate course emphasizing on communities. In 1987, the school offered The Nursing Certificate Course ( 2 years consecutive). In 1990, Ratchaburi Practical Nursing and Midwifery School name was changed to “Ratchaburi Nursing College”. In 1993, Ministry of Public Health consolidated the authorities responsible for production and individual development together, therefore the college was transferred to be under the supervision of Health Workforce Development Institution. In 1994, Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra Boromrajajonani officially bestowed all colleges under Ministry of Public Health the name “ Boromrajajonani Nursing college” ( Endorsed on Royal Thai Government Gazette No. 111 special article 36 V) and royal initial “Sor Wor” as colleges’ emblems. The college name was consequently changed to “Boromrajajonani College of Nursing Ratchaburi 1” and Health Workforce Development Institution name was changed to Praboromarajchanok Institute for Health Workforce Development (Endorsed on Royal Thai Government Gazette effective since 26 December 1995). In 1997, Boromrajajonani Ratchaburi College of Nursing 1 name was changed to “Boromrajajonani Ratchaburi College of Nursing” (Endorsed on Royal Thai Government Gazette No.114 special article 74 dated 16 September 1997). In 1997, the college joined nursing science course with Faculty of Nursing Mahidol Univesity ( Endorsed on Royal Thai Government Gazette No.114 special article 54V dated 30 June 1997) and received the degree awarded by Mahidol University since academic year 1996 consequently the course was changed from Nursing Certificate course to Bachelor of Nursing Science program since then.
