Background

When Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Ratchaburi (BCNR or Ratchaburi Nursing College as it was first named) was initially established in 1974, it offered an undergraduate programme of assistance in nursing and midwifery. Later, in 1983, BCNR introduced an additional four-year Bachelor of Nursing programme, to be followed by a two-year Bachelor of Nursing (continuing programme) established in 1987.

Seven years later, BCNR and various other nursing colleges under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Public Health have received the greatest honour from "Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajonani: Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother" granting the name "Boromarajonani College of Nursing", followed by the names of the provinces to all respective colleges.

Since 1994, the Princess Mother's abbreviation name "สว" (Sor Wor) has been adopted as the symbol of the BCNR and those nursing colleges.
